Shri C.Rajan Babu, born on 01-04-1949 at Tiruttani, Tamilnadu to Shri C.Chengalray Naidu ( Receipient of National Award in 1969 from the president of India ) and Smt.C.Venkatasubbamma ( Founder of a school for developmentally delayed ) and studied up to school education in Tiruttani later on continued higher studies at Thirupathi and Hyderabad.
Shri. Rajan Babu presently working in the Indian Customs Service as its Assistant Commissioner joined Customs at Visakhapatnam as a Preventive Officer in March 1973 after completing his collegiate education in Andhra Pradesh.
Shri. Rajan Babu, ever sine he joined the customs service, had exhibited his flair for social cause and patriotism by dedicating himself to anti smuggling activities performed at the risk of his life. Shri. Rajan Babu acquired special skills in the field of rummaging and preventive intelligence. Shri. Rajan Babu has to his credits a large number of seizures of contraband and brought to books many smugglers in large number of cases. Shri Rajan Babu, at a very early part of his career in 1977, made his mark by cracking down an international drug trafficking syndicate with the seizure of 1,008 kgs of hashish valued at several million dollars in the international market. The above case is popularly known as DERRIC CASE, was published as a cover story in ‘India Today’ and also won him a commendation certificate from the Collector of Customs, Madras.
