Shri. Rajan Babu, due to his sheer dedication and love for serving the society at large particularly the weaker section and the commoners, joined the Home Guard at Visakhapatnam and carried out relentless service inspite of his busy occupation with the customs department, which made him raise to the position of a Company Commander within a very short span of time.  As a Company Commander, he excelled himself to receive a commendation certificate from the Superintendent of Police and Commandant, Home Guard, Visakhapatnam, Urban District.  Shri. Rajan Babu, as a Company Commander, played a vital role to maintain peace and harmony during the riot that broke out consequent to the assassination of the Prime Minister of India Mrs. Indira Gandhi.

Shri. Rajan Babu later in his career was posted to the most coveted apex organization in India engaged in the combating of drug menace namely the Narcotics Control Bureau, South Zonal Unit, to make very useful contributions by detecting many cases of inter-national smuggling of heroin, attempted through novel methods.  Shri. Rajan Babu also lead a maiden operation in the hilly terrain in Vishakapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh infested with terrorists and PWG War Group for the destruction of ‘Ganja Plants’ (Narcotic Plants) cultivated in the said area and was very successful in terms of seizure of drugs and arrest of the key persons involved.
